Yuri Danilov
Marriage and Family Therapy Provisional Licensee
Yuri’s approach is highly client centered. He views therapy as a co-created process which begins with self-exploration. To facilitate exploring unconscious processes and deeper themes, he cultivates a supportive and safe space. His approach is particularly well-suited for couples and individuals seeking to discover their authentic desires, enhance communication skills, navigate conflicts, and build deeper emotional connection in their relationships.
When working with couples, Yuri homes in on interpersonal challenges, carefully uncovering recurring patterns. Once these are identified, he assists couples with working together to implement small yet significant changes that foster healing and growth. Couples working with Yuri can anticipate a transformative journey in which they push their limits, become more adept at managing stress, develop effective communication, and learn how to foster a safe space for open dialogue within their partnership. Through the process, couples not only learn to express their needs constructively but gain tools to navigate conflict and build a deeper emotional connection. Yuri's guidance empowers couples to speak up without fear, fostering a resilient relationship marked by understanding and authenticity.
For those encountering challenges in managing joint sessions, Yuri adopts a tailored approach, working individually with each partner. By focusing on the unique needs of each person within the relationship, he creates a supportive space for growth, understanding, and ultimately, enhanced connection.
Yuri’s evolving integrative praxis is informed by his background in nutrition and interest in the connection between exercise and wellbeing. He integrates the Gottman Method, Family Systems Theory, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Solution Focused Brief Therapy, and classical Lacanian and Freudian psychoanalysis into his work. Yuri earned his master’s degree in marriage and family therapy at Hofstra University (a COAMFTE accredited institution) and a B.A. at Queens College, where he studied nutrition and psychology.
